"Boom cars" (OR "boom
boxes") An acoustic assault on local communities and
nearby residential areas where cars and vehicles equipped with 'ICE' (In
Care Entertainment) belt out excessive amounts of noise and music at a tremendous
amount of 'watts'.
These anti-social and noise polluting vehicles cause persistent annoyance,
distress and can often be heard on their approach and exit for more than
a few miles. Over-powered in car music systems are often favoured by the
young, chav type car owner and are seen as a symbol
of status and 'cruise' worthiness. In reality, a distraction to most road
users, pedestrians and communities.
"Bullying" (or "[to]
bully") A bully or bullying group of individuals can
perform this practice in many different guises through many available threats
and practices. A bully will abusively treat another party through negatively
available means, either physically, verbally, mentally or through other
indirect, but effective methods of unwanted control or influence.
Bullying can be more subtle (e.g. within the workplace) or stem as more
direct harassment
and victimisation from a person or community towards another. Bullying can
stem from racist, sexist abuse or prejudice for example and is a means of
control and intimidation (e.g. the young person that bullies another child
in the school playground who then will not walk home alone after school
OR the Neighbour From Hell (NFH) who bullies their neighbour
by direct means of harassment, victimisation, etc).
